In the heart of Baroda, Gujarat, Kabir House, designed by Usine Studio under the leadership of Yatin and Jiten, seamlessly blends the tranquility of a farmhouse with urban living. The architects’ thoughtful use of concrete slabs, stone walls, and wood constructs a harmonious relationship between the structure and the landscape. Inside, the meticulous integration of interior and exterior spaces, along with a keen focus on minimalistic aesthetics, results in a home that not only celebrates nature but also reflects the designers’ sensitivity to balance and functionality. The house features a striking play of light and shadow, geometric screens, and artistic elements, creating a unique and serene living environment that goes beyond the ordinary.
The interior spaces of Kabir House unfold as a symphony of elegance and simplicity. From the formal living area that seamlessly connects with nature to the bedrooms that exude a royal yet contemporary feel, each space reflects a keen attention to detail. The upper floor, dedicated to the son’s bedrooms, showcases the designers’ creativity with engraving, embossing, and backlit glass panels, highlighting their commitment to achieving a delicate balance between design elements. Despite the challenges and alterations faced during the design process, Kabir House stands as a testament to Usine Studio’s ability to create a home that not only meets the client’s desires but also exemplifies a sophisticated and harmonious approach to architecture.
